My camper has a special concern/ information that would be beneficial for any councilor/leadership to know. How can I let the staff know?

If you have a special concern, we want to be as accommodating as possible to make each camper have an incredible time at camp. You can email us with the concern, name of child, and what the dates are that the child is attending and we will be in contact with you!

You know more about what your camper needs than we do, so if you have information that will help us to care for your child, we want to hear it!

Medications

My child has medications, what do I need to do for their week at camp?

For campers that have medication, Camp Sebago needs to have a signed script from the doctor that exactly matches the medication, and all medications need to be in their original packaging (including inhalers with their boxes).

We will not be able to admit campers with incorrect medication, because we need to ensure proper treatment as prescribed by their doctors.

My child’s medication has changed since their physical, what do I do?

For any medication that has changed, please have doctors send an updated letter or prescription that is signed, and either bring a physical copy to camp or ensure that it has been received by the camp staff before bringing your camper to camp.

We will not be able to admit campers with incorrect medication, because we need to ensure proper treatment as prescribed by their doctors.

Health & Safety

How does my camper keep cool when it is hot outside?

We have regular reminders to drink water and apply sunscreen every half hour that campers spend outside during hot days. We also incorporate extra water activities when the weather is too hot and try to keep campers in cool places. We have particular air-conditioned spots in the case of overheating.

What will happen if my child gets sick/injured while at camp?

We have a medically trained nurse on camp who is able to assess the needs of a child, and if given permission by parents in the application process are able to treat as necessary. If a child is in need to see a doctor for any reason the camp has a doctor that is used for consulting, and we would notify parents if the child were in need of seeing a medical provider for any reason with the permission of a parent.

My child is a picky eater, how will I know they are eating well while at camp?

We understand that being a picky eater is a concern for many parents, so we try to tailor our menus towards child-friendly meals while still being nutritious. Our counselors monitor during mealtimes to try to ensure that campers are getting a balanced meal. There are additionally 2 times per day apart from mealtimes where additional snacks are served, before bed and after lunch there is a “treat” option.
